At Musical Tapas, we offer Spanish classes in a space that’s inclusive, social, and designed from the ground up for adult LGBT+ learners (and allies). Whether you’re learning your first words or picking up Spanish again after years away, you’re welcome here. We believe in laughing, stumbling and learning — together.
My name’s Frank, and I’m a language teacher with over 20 year’s experience who believes that everyone deserves to learn in spaces that respect and reflect who they are. I created Musical Tapas after years of teaching and wishing there were classrooms where LGBT+ language learners were free to participate fully and share their own lives without awkwardness, code-switching, or going back into the closet.
At Musical Tapas, you don’t have to edit your life to fit the worksheet. You don’t have to brace yourself for awkward partner conversations. You just get to turn up, be yourself, and learn.
While our classes are relaxed, conversation-based and centred on community, you’ll learn Spanish in a well structured and progressive way covering all four skills, developing your grammar and building your vocabulary. And, yes… there will be homework!
So… Why “MusicalTapas”?
Great question. It all started with music.
The name MusicalTapas came from an early idea to create a blog about Spanish-language music — exploring lyrics, genres, and teaching some Spanish along the way. But as the idea grew, it became clear that this wasn’t just about music. It was about people — and the many beautiful ways language brings us together.
Like tapas — small, flavourful dishes meant to be shared — our classes offer bite-sized, joyful steps into the Spanish-speaking world. Through conversation, shared experiences and some quality teaching, we can build not just language skills, but community.
